Play sofas are meant to be climbed on, eaten on and occasionally drawn on. The good news is that every cover on every Neztly piece unzips and can go in the washing machine, so keeping it clean is mostly about a few simple habits.
Washing the covers
- Unzip and remove the cover. Each piece has a hidden zipper. Slide the foam out carefully, one piece at a time.
- Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Skip the bleach.
- Line dry or air dry. Let the covers dry naturally rather than using high heat.
- Refit the cover once it is completely dry, easing the foam back in corner by corner before you close the zip.
Wash covers of the same colour together, and close the zips before washing so they don’t catch on other fabric.
Dealing with spills
For small, everyday spills you don’t need to remove the cover:
- Act quickly. Blot liquid with a clean cloth. Don’t rub, which pushes the spill further into the fabric.
- Spot clean with a damp, warm cloth. Work from the outside of the mark inwards.
- Let it dry naturally before the children are back on it.
If a mark doesn’t lift with spot cleaning, remove that cover and machine wash it as above.
Everyday care
- Vacuum regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift crumbs and dust from the seams.
- Brush corduroy lightly in one direction now and then to keep the ribs looking even.
- Rotate pieces. If one piece always gets sat on, swap its position with another so wear is shared.
- Stack pieces when you’re done. It keeps the floor clear and stops pieces being trodden on.
Caring for the foam
The foam core is high-density and holds its shape under repeated use. To keep it that way, avoid getting it wet. Always remove the cover before washing rather than washing the whole piece, and make sure covers are fully dry before refitting them.

Questions
Can I tumble dry the covers?
We recommend line or air drying rather than a tumble dryer.
Can I wash the foam?
No. Remove the cover and wash only the cover. Keep the foam dry.
Is velvet harder to clean than corduroy?
Both have machine-washable covers and are washed the same way. Velvet tends to show marks sooner, so you may wash velvet covers a little more often.
